International Women’s Day – RWWA (08.03.18)

Thursday 08.03.18

Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association (RWWA) has lead the way for 28 years in hosting women only International Women’s Day Events in the Borough of Rochdale. Over the years RWWA have worked in partnership with lots of other organisations who work with women. As always today is a day for women to come together to acknowledge the importance of gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women.

Amongst the workshops held one was on conflict resolution. This was facilitated by Christine Cox and her team from the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation. The charity works nationally and internationally for peace with non-violent conflict resolution. This workshop proved extremely popular with the women with lots of laughs.

Other groups were armchair keep fit, acupuncture, hand massage, threading, henna etc. The food provided is as always very popular.

In the afternoon dancing took place, firstly with a display put on and then it was the women’s turn to show their dance moves. What a great time that was.

On a final and very important note from RWWA staff and Management Committee. Thank you to every woman who attended today. Thank you also to all the different agencies that put on the workshops and the volunteers who provided the other services. The day was a huge success.
