RWWA is committed to protect and enhance the well-being of the people it works with and of its employees. contract staff and volunteers. The organisation has a moral and statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of these groups and endeavours to create and maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment where they are respected and valued. The organisation will identify where there are safeguarding concerns and will take action to address them in partnership with other organisations where appropriate.
There are two key principles that underpin our safeguarding practices, these are:
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility: for services to be effective each professional and organisation should play their full part;
A child- / vulnerable adult-centred approach: for services to be effective they should be based on a clear understanding of the needs and views of children, learners and vulnerable adults within the setting.
There are three main elements to our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy:
e.g. positive atmosphere, teaching and pastoral support to the people we work with;
By following agreed procedures, ensuring staff are trained and supported to respond appropriately and sensitively to safeguarding and Child Protection concerns/disclosures; and
To the people we work with, to children, young women and vulnerable adults who may have been abused and to staff and volunteers.
Any safeguarding concerns regarding children, young people and vulnerable adults should be referred to RWWA’s Designated Safeguarding Lead Rizwana Baleem (rizwana@rwwa.co.uk or 01706860157). At Board-level the Safeguarding Lead is Fozia Moazam (fozia_moazam@hotmail.com or by phone no.01706860157).
